Jackson Franklin For Congress 2026

“People Over Profits!”

Campaign for Indiana’s 5th Congressional District

This campaign is dedicated to removing the influence of big money in politics, ensuring that politicians prioritize the issues that matter to everyday Americans rather than catering to millionaire donors. That’s why we’ve pledged never to accept big-dollar donations and are building a grassroots movement powered entirely by small-dollar contributions.

This campaign’s focus is on advocating for and passing legislation rooted in common-sense, working-class priorities. Some of our core beliefs are that no American should face bankruptcy due to medical bills or lose their life because they lack access to healthcare, that education and housing are human rights and that women should have control over their own bodies! Together, we can fight for a government that truly serves and represents the people, not the big money donors.

Fighting against Corruption, & Advocating For Campaign Finance Reform

This campaign is committed to only taking small-dollar contributions and aims to fight the legalized corruption that occurs at every level of our political system. To do this, we need to pass campaign finance reform and overturn the disastrous Supreme Court decision of Citizens United, which allowed unlimited money to be dumped into political campaigns. The millionaire and billionaire classes of this country have taken full advantage of this decision by buying our elections and candidates, who are then owned and beholden by their elite interests, turning their backs on the working class.

Here in America, we have the best democracy that money can buy. Our democracy should consist of elections, not auctions. That is why we advocate for public financing of elections so that everyone, not just the millionaire class and their friends, has an equal chance of getting their message out.

First, we must enforce strict limits on individual, corporate, and PAC money in political campaigns. We must ban super PACs and dark money spending in our political process. That way, our politicians will be transparent about how they have received big money donations and limit the power and influence of the wealthiest 1% of the country.

Medicare For All

Our healthcare system is fundamentally broken. More than 60,000 Americans die every year due to lack of healthcare, and more than 30 million Americans still don’t have health insurance and even more are underinsured. This is unacceptable. That is why this campaign is calling for our country to catch up to the rest of the developed world and guarantee Medicare for all for every citizen across the country.

Even for those with insurance, costs are so high that medical bills are the number one cause of bankruptcy in the United States. We should be spending money on doctors, nurses, mental health specialists, dentists, and other professionals who provide services to people and improve their lives. We must invest in the development of new drugs and technologies that cure disease and alleviate pain—not wasting hundreds of billions of dollars a year on profiteering, huge executive compensation packages, and outrageous administrative costs.

The giant pharmaceutical and health insurance lobbies have spent billions of dollars over the past decades, and have donated to our opponent in this race to ensure that their profits come before the health of the American people. We must defeat them!

Legalize Marijuana & End The War On Drugs

Our campaign will fight to end the disastrous war on drugs, which has disproportionately targeted people of color and ruined the lives of millions of Americans. It is time to admit the criminalization of marijuana was a disaster, especially for communities of color, and allow those most impacted to move forward with their lives. Our job now is to legalize marijuana and vacate and expunge past marijuana convictions, and ensure that revenue from legal marijuana is reinvested in communities hit hardest by the War on Drugs.

The United States spends over $80 billion each year on incarcerating people, and the only way to repair the harm caused in communities across the country is to end the War on Drugs and invest intentionally in education, housing, healthcare, and employment. This campaign believes the government should mind its own business if no one is harmed. That is why we should pardon all non-violent drug offenders and start giving aid to those addicted to substances instead of punishing them for their condition or mental illness.

Legalize. Tax. Regulate.

“Now is the time to create a government which represents all Americans and not just the 1%.”

- Senator Bernie Sanders, VT
